SUSTAINABLE SWIMWEAR DESIGNER
At Churpina we’re very conscious about how environmentally-impacting fashion is, and we don’t want to be part of the problem. Without skimping on quality and style, this is how we do our part.

Regenerated Fabric
ECONYL®
Nylon waste such as industrial plastic, waste fabric, and fishing nets from oceans are collected and transformed into new nylon yarn that is exactly the same quality as virgin nylon. Through this way there is essentially no need to create new plastic (which swimwear fabric is made of) and can be recycled, recreated and remolded again and again. Amazing!
Made-to-Order
We only create what is ordered so there’s no left over inventory after Summer ends.

Multi-Use Pieces
All of our pieces are finished in a seamless reversible way thus giving the wearer 4 final looks with just one bikini set. We’re also exploring multi-use pieces with some cuts totaling up to 20-in-1 looks and this is just one bikini top. This allows for longer retention of the item and less need to buy new swimsuits.
Intelligent Cutting
Extra time is taken to intelligently place the sewing pattern pieces on the fabric before cutting. This helps reduce the amount of off-cuts, allows us to utilize most of the fabric and thus minimize our waste and of course, cost.

Donate off-cuts
Fabric scraps that are too small for us to use are given to other businesses (hey Gabe Boutique!) to make accessories and stuffing with.
Packaging
Our packaging game is a thesis in waste avoidance. Take a look.

Bikinis are given in fabric drawstring bags which can serve as storage for your swimwear after a lovely day at the beach.

Our thank-you cards are made of recyclable, wood-free paper.

Our postal bags are made of corn starch, not plastic and can be composted after your parcel arrives at your doorstep.

Our carry-bags can be re-used, recycled when their life is over and contain zero plastic in them. We could have gone for that lovely shiny bag design but we’ll pass, the world does not need more plastic than there already is.

Mending and Repair
When sewing our swimsuits we intend them to last for many many summers. Alas, mishaps happen. If your swimsuit is damaged within the same year of purchase we will mend it for you free of charge. Just send it to our studios and we’ll do our best to repair it as new. If its damaged after a year, we’ll still fix it for you of course but at a small fee.
Reclaimed Denim
To make our bucket hats we took in unwanted jeans, ripped them apart and bleached them. Using the freshly white fabric we made these cool headgear without using any new/virgin fabric.
